GAYSORN TOWER

Ratchadamri Road, Bangkok
Thailand
2016
The project includes the creation of a very long facade spanning some 180 meters to link the existing shopping mall to the new high-rise office building as well as a covered pedestrian walkway all the way to the Saen Seap canal.

The tower is to contain mainly office space with high and low zones separated by the building highlight feature in the form of a double-height lobby and open-air terrace that acts as a break- out space.

The dominating character of the new tower facade will be the horizontal bands of brise soleil. This not only aids energy conservation but more importantly for the architects, this was aimed at increasing the level of human comfort inside the building as glazed buildings tend to get uncomfortably hot around their glass facades and thus avoided by users.

The fins will help to provide a comfortable environment even in the area around the perimeter of the building, enabling people to sit by the window.
