Gateway Ekamai is situated next to the Bangkok Skytrain station on a busy corner of Sukhumvit road, at the junction of Sukhumvit 42. Taking advantage of its location, the building features two concourse entrances; one on street level and another connected to the BTS.

On an urban scale, the lower plaza helps enlarge the pedestrian pavement on the street level, while the exterior escalators and building entryways were carefully positioned to divert the busy pedestrian traffic in the area onto the BTS station via the upper plaza. This upper plaza offers an additional public space that merges well with the station.

The undulating ribbon façade gives the project its strong character. Using digital technology, each ribbon was tagged and drawn to precision. This curved shape is also well-suited to the angular configuration of the plot.

The skylight -- another key element in the project -- was designed using a steel-shell structure. The triangular grid structure was composed from a single steel member dimension which was pre-fabricated off-site, dismantled and transported to be re-assembled on site.
