MK Restaurant Group, one of the largest restauranteurs in Thailand, purchased a 1980s office/warehouse on the outskirts of Bangkok as their Headquarters.

Our immediate approach was to re-arrange the site plan by opening the front to the public and transforming the area between the office and warehouse into a courtyard.

The original office block had several shortcomings, such as low ceilings, tight lift shafts, inadequate slope at the main stair and so on. Thus, in addition to re-designing the building facade, we created a series of atria within the building to eliminate the low ceilings and connect the office floors. These atria feature an open staircase which not only links the floors, but also serves as a collaboration space within the office.

The augmentation of the glass façade reflects the capacious atrium within and features a second internal façade layer of pivot sun-screens. Two glass lifts were added and are a prominent element on the façade. Several adjustments were also made at the service core to improve the lay-out of all the function areas.
