An exploration into the creative process of southern culture culminates with the key words “Diversity - Rain - Time - Creativity”

Diversity is an aspect of southern Thailand which stems from a rich background of cultures, religions and beliefs. This unique characteristic is easily transformed into a wellspring of creativity that encourages exchange and the development of ideas that transcends all differences.

The southern climate is well-known for its 8-month long rainy season. Locals, who have grown used to this lengthy wet season, carry on with their lives under these weather conditions. This also influences the way they convene and collaborate, giving rise to creative processes and products distinct from other regions of Thailand.

The location of the TCDC itself is unique in that it is in the old quarter of the Songkla, which is in the process of being designated as a World Heritage Site. The history and times of this area are invaluable treasures and a great source of inspiration for new ideas. This creative spirit is its invariably indispensable legacy.

Creativity that is born from diversity, climate and a rich local history results in the unique economic and social development in southern Thailand, successfully fostering a creative society.
