Located within a mixed-use development in Ho Chi Minh City,
Vietnam, the campus of Harrow International School is designed to preserve its
rich culture and tradition, while creating a fresh environment for the students.
Harrow International School is divided into 3 levels of education; kindergarten,
primary school, and secondary school, each with their own complex within the
campus. The architecture is designed to cater for each specific age group,
incorporating the essence of local characteristics. All 3 complexes have integrated
common areas throughout the buildings, providing interactive spaces for students
with the intent to promote a sense of fellowship among peers. Vibrancy and
playfulness are a prominent theme in the kindergarten spaces. These young students
are adventurous and curious, and their surroundings awaken their sense of
creativity.
Abundant openings on the façade enhance flow and circulation, creating synergy
between the indoor and the outdoor spaces which encourages activities. The
school buildings for students in the higher years focuses on blurring the lines
between students from different classes and years. The integrated common area
"flows" through the architecture both laterally and vertically across
different levels, aiming to create a platform where all students can connect and
interact.
