WATERFRONT DEVELOPMENT AT KHLONG TOEI

Khlong Toei, Bangkok
Thailand
2010
This project is study of development in the Khlong Toei Port area, the last large piece of land in the inner part of Bangkok. When a significant load of the port was diverted to Lamchabang Port, this area, with its ling river frontage, was left vacant, offering Bangkok enormous potential for a first-class development

The Proposal consists of office buildings, hotel, retail, convention center, park, museum, and a port for tourism. The ratio of the building floor area to the land area is taken into consideration to control the destiny of the land usage and allow open space for the public. Each Residential apartment offers an open courtyard for recreation with the green belt around the residential zone. The multipurpose plaza and the public park along the riverbank offer a fine perspective and respond to the city’s public effort. The mid-size park in the center of the development provides some privacy for the residents and visitors

The Commercial buildings are arrayed as two street walls to blend with the low-side shopping street. The Convention center and the mid-size theater serve social, cultural, and business activities. The sports field in the area of the former port is to be improved to become a modern sports and recreation center; the city library close to the river will be the center for information. The plan also includes the Bangkok sky park, inspired by the sail and the river to celebrate the area with a new landmark.
