MAHASARAKHAM UNIVERSITY : FACULTY OF MEDICINE AND HOSPITAL MASTER PLAN

Serving as a central healthcare hub for Mahasarakham Province and surrounding areas, the Faculty of Medicine at Mahasarakham University proposed a masterplan expansion for both the hospital and faculty to accommodate growing demand through the addition of patient care buildings and new classroom facilities for the medical school.

At the heart of this masterplan is the concept of a green university campus. A generous open space is preserved and connected to the city through Nong Kha Public Park, creating ecological continuity for the surrounding community, providing natural water retention that reduces drainage load on public infrastructure, and offering a place of respite for patients, visitors, and medical staff alike.

Primary circulation routes define the overall development framework, linking built areas with green spaces through a series of inter-building plazas. Shaded by mature trees, these plazas create inviting outdoor areas between buildings featuring a health garden, herb garden, therapeutic garden, and an outdoor exercise trail. Internal circulation is clearly organized, with dedicated routes separating vehicular traffic, cyclists, and pedestrians to serve all users of the campus equitably and efficiently.
